Betting Options

There are many options when it comes to wagering on the UEFA Champions League.  Read about a few of them below:

Betting on Tournament Winner

One of the most popular Champions League bets that can be made is betting on the team you think will win the tournament.  These bets are called “future bets” because they rely on many outcomes that will occur in the distant future.  Future bets usually payout quite nicely because there are so many variables involved and so many different outcomes that occur.

Betting on Individual Game Winners

You can also bet on Champions League games throughout the entire tournament.  There are two ways to bet on most games: moneyline bets and spread bets.

Moneyline Bets

A moneyline bet is simply a wager on which team will win the game.  There are no handicaps involved.  If the team you wager on wins the game, then you win the bet.

Point Spread Bets

Spread bets are meant to even the playing field to give bets on the underdog teams a better chance at winning and to make it so bets on the favourites payout more than a few pennies on the dollar.  In soccer the point spread will usually give 0.5 to 1.5 goals to the underdog and the favourite would have to cover the spread in order for a favourite bet to payout.  Here is an example:

Real Madrid -1.5 (-130)
Olympique Lyonnais +1.5 (+100)

For a bet on Real Madrid to payout Real Madrid must win the game by 2 or more goals.  Similarly, for a bet on Olympique Lyonnais to payout they must either win, tie or lose by 1 goal.

Prop Bets

Prop bets are wagers on in game outcomes that are more detailed than which team wins or loses.  For example some typical Champions League prop bets would be: team to score first, player to score first and correct score.

Player to Score First

For this prop bet you wager on which player from either team will score the first goal of the game.  This bet will often payout nicely because there are so many players who could possibly score the first goal.

Correct Score

If you can accurately predict the final score of a Champions League game you will earn a large payout.  There are so many possibilites that if you are able to nail an outcome you will receive at least 6/1 on your bet and possibly up to 100/1 if it’s an unpredictable outcome.
